Stay at Log Still's Dant Crossing

Suites, cottages and whole houses on a working distillery campus in Gethsemane, with a stocked lake, an amphitheater and the tasting room a walk away.

Log Still Distillery’s Dant Crossing campus in Gethsemane is the closest thing near Bardstown to sleeping inside a distillery. You can book a single suite in a restored farmhouse from $189 a night, a lakeside cottage for six at $489, or a four-bedroom mansion for eight at $1,099, all within walking distance of the tasting room, a 12-acre stocked lake and The Amp, the campus amphitheater. It sits about 13 miles south of Court Square, so this is a stay for people who want bourbon country quiet more than a downtown address.

What Dant Crossing is

Log Still Distillery is the Dant family’s return to distilling, led by Wally Dant with cousins Lynne and Charles Dant, on land where the Cold Spring Distillery once stood. The campus covers about 350 acres and includes the distillery and tasting room, a 2,300-seat outdoor amphitheater, a private train depot, The Legacy wedding and event venue, a farm-to-table restaurant and the lodging. Distilling started in the summer of 2022, and it is a stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, which features the lodging in its boutique stays roundup. Our Log Still Distillery page covers the tours and tastings; this page is about where you sleep.

The rooms carry the family story. Suites are named for Dant relatives, and the Poplar Cottage Studio reuses materials from the original Dant & Head Distillery. It gives the place a sense of lineage that a hotel on the bypass cannot fake.

The Homestead and Heritage House: B&B suites

These two restored farmhouses are the heart of the lodging and the best value. Each suite sleeps two, and both houses have a full kitchen and a dining table for 12 for shared meals.

For a concert weekend, The Kids Suite’s balcony is the seat you want. For a quiet anniversary, the Ann Catherine Suite, with its fireplace and soaker tub, is the best room on the property. Groups of friends can book a whole house and use that 12-seat table.

Poplar Cottage: on the lake

The Poplar Cottage Retreat ($489) is the upper level, with a king on the main floor and two queens in the loft, sleeping six. It has a full kitchen, a wraparound deck and patio, an ADA-compliant shower, and what Log Still calls the number one spot on the property for a sunset. Below it, the Poplar Cottage Studio ($249) is a queen room for two with a kitchenette, a step-in shower and a private covered patio facing the rickhouses. Cottage guests take breakfast in the Homestead dining room.

Whole-house rentals

  • The Mansion ($1,099): a restored Georgian-style house with four bedrooms and four baths for eight, crystal chandeliers, the original staircase, a full modern kitchen and three porches, a short walk from The Legacy. It is built for wedding parties.
  • The Lodge ($747): three bedrooms and two baths for six, a wraparound deck, an eat-in kitchen and a leather-and-wood lounge made for passing a bottle around.
  • Remington Lodge ($249 each): the 1816 Suite (king, full kitchen with dishwasher, gas grill), the Back Forty bungalow (one bedroom, gas grill, fire pit, private chef on request) and the two-bedroom Core-Lokt Precision suite for four.

What there is to do without leaving

Most people book here to tour the distillery, and you can walk to the tasting room, which is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the last tour at 4 p.m. Reserve the tour ahead, wear closed-toe shoes (the tour FAQ explains why), and check the distillery tours guide for how it compares with the other stops.

Beyond that:

  • The 12-acre lake is stocked and has a walking path. Morning coffee on the shore is the quiet payoff of staying out here.
  • The Amp hosts concerts nearly every weekend from May to October. In 2026 the lineup included Craig Morgan, Justin Moore and Dustin Lynch (October 10). Tickets are sold separately through Ticketmaster; The Amp’s page has the schedule.
  • The campus restaurant serves farm-to-table food, so you do not have to drive back to town for dinner after a tasting.

Where it is and getting around

Dant Crossing is at 225 Dee Head Road in Gethsemane, about 13 miles south of Court Square, or 20 to 25 minutes by car. Nearby, the Abbey of Gethsemani, where Thomas Merton lived, shares the Gethsemane name, and New Haven, home of the Kentucky Railway Museum, is the closest town.

The tradeoff is plain: you are close to the countryside and far from downtown’s restaurants. That makes the drinking-and-driving question real. Plan to drink on campus and stay put, or arrange a driver for nights in Bardstown. Our guide to drinking responsibly covers Kentucky’s rules. Log Still is also a natural first or last stop on a loop south to Maker’s Mark, as laid out in our three-day Bourbon Trail itinerary.

Rules and booking tips

The Visit Bardstown listing is a handy second look at the lodging, but book through Log Still directly.

  • No pets in any unit.
  • Booking is online through Log Still’s reservation system; check-in times and minimum stays are not posted on the rentals page, so confirm them when you book.
  • For accessibility, the Ann Catherine Suite is ADA-accessible, the Poplar Retreat has an ADA shower, and two Heritage House suites are on the main floor.
  • Concert weekends and fall fill first. Buy concert tickets and lodging together.

Is it worth it?

For bourbon fans, yes. At $189 for a queen suite, the farmhouse rooms cost about what a downtown B&B does, and you wake up next to rickhouses and a lake. For groups, the Lodge and Mansion work out well per person. It is the wrong choice if you want to walk to dinner on Court Square every night; compare our unique stays guide and the cabins and vacation rentals roundup for other options.
